Identity Theft

This happens more often than it should. Actually, it should never happen.

Scenario. I was getting some morning breakfast at my usual deli. I ask for a mushroom omelette. Cook acknowledges he got my order and proceeds to grab chopped onions, ham, and green peppers to mix into the egg batter. I say, "Excuse me I asked for mushroom omelette." Cook grabs some mushrooms and throws it in with the other stuff... So now I'm really annoyed at this point. And I say, "I don't know who's order you're cooking right there, but I ordered mushroom omelette." Cook says to me, "You said western omelette."

Right there, the cook just committed identity theft. Now how could you possibly argue with me about what I just said a few seconds ago, repeatedly, and claim to know more about what comes out of my mouth than I do? Come on! Why not just apologize for your mistake and move on? Instead you have to insist you are somehow... me.

I would recommend getting a new set of brains for those people, but I think that's out of the question.

The Return of the Triathlete

The quest is on again. Five-month journey to swim-bike-run...

It's rather funny because, while I'm not a complete slob, I get to be in shape for half a year and then gradually (or immediately) let myself go after T-Day.

Vacation and Transition...

I just got back from a 10-day vacation in the Philippines, to be at my brother Vir's wedding, visit relatives and friends, and get some r&r, maybe...

There will be stories about the trip, but first, a thought...

I think people should be forewarned about taking vacations of more than a week at a time. It significantly disrupts the flow things and events, work in particular. (I understand that the real problem here is that one has to return to work... if not, all else is well!)

I'm reading a ton of work emails the day before I go back into the lion's den. Having a hard time following series of events and transactions. Figuring out where I am picking up from and how to catch up.

I think vacation time should be accompanied with "transition time" of maybe at least three days to re-integrate you into the things that you have missed or things that you are responsible for that you now have to take back!

Otherwise, you're just setting yourself up for failure and needing to take more time off due to the aggravation of coming back into chaos.

IT'S A VICIOUS CYCLE.

What's in store for 2007!

This year, I am living it up and asking the universe for many great things. For friends and family, if you are reading this, let me know what goals and dreams you envision and I'll make sure to post it and have them be real for you and others.
  • get promotion and salary increase
  • learn to speak Spanish
  • watch more live Yankee games
  • reduce debt by 10%; get finances in order
  • learn to dance salsa
  • be lean and fit (you know!); have ideal bmi
  • complete triathlon in 4 hours or less
  • travel to a place that I have never been to before
  • buy a house
  • learn to cook
  • be more connected to friends and family
  • eliminate energy-sucking people around me
  • eat a fruit once every 2-3 days
  • be healthier; be sick less or none at all
  • learn a new skill or improve on an existing skill
  • read a new book at least once every two months
  • write ten new poems or short stories
  • be more involved in my community

Well, that's the short list! =)

Be sure to set your goals for the year and have it be real! If you don't dare to declare what you want, deserve, or aspire, chances are that you won't get it.

LIVE IT UP!
